The Historical township of Gulgong is the perfect backdrop for the annual Henry Lawson Heritage Festival.
Gulgong comes alive on Saturday morning, with twelve blocks of the township closed to traffic you can leisurely browse through the local shops that offer a wonderful variety of goods, enjoy breakfast or your morning coffee in one of the many cafes, the local businesses are complimented by the market stalls that fill the streets. Musicians, bush dancing and heritage games will take you back to a time when life was lived at a slower pace.
The acoustics at the Prince of Wales Opera House are perfect for the Saturday Evening Performance Poetry Competition and Theatre Restaurant and the other events held in this beautiful historic building throughout the Festival.
Among the many attractions throughout the Festival are a Local Food Fair, Bus Tour of the Sites in Lawson’s works, Literary Awards, a Country Race Meeting.
